                                Leadership

                          Spiritual Director

Each fraternity is encouraged to have a spiritual director who is grounded in and committed to embracing the spirituality of Brother Charles de Foucauld. The role of the spiritual director is one of nourishing and challenging to further growth the fraternity and its leaders or ”facilitators”.  He/she reminds the fraternity of their call

and helps them to remain faithful to the spirit and char ism of Brother Charles.

                             The Facilitators

There is a need for someone to be responsible at each level of the fraternity, to nourish and challenge the fraternity towards growth.  Therefore, each individual fraternity should have a leader or ”facilitator” for a period of up to three years.  Above all, this means ensuring that the fraternity remains faithful to the spirit and char ism of Brother Charles. The facilitator should see that meetings take place regularly and are properly prepared. He/she should also see that contacts are maintained with a Spiritual Director and with other branches of Brother Charles’ spiritual family — such as the religious and lay communities of Little Brothers and Little Sisters and the priests’ fraternities known as Jesus Caritas Fraternities.

The facilitators should meet on a regular basis with the spiritual director of the fraternity. This time spent with the spiritual director and possibly other facilitators is a time of prayer, formation and mutual encouragement. The focus is on how to grow and deepen in the life and spirituality of Brother Charles and how to help each individual fraternity to grow and deepen.  Experience shows that renewal of the fraternities depends upon renewal of the facl1itators.
